Brimheim means home of the breaking waves and just like her namesake, Danish/Faroese Helena Heinesen Rebensdorff, has quickly made an impact on the scene. In the last 3 years, she has established herself as a force to behold — musically, lyrically, and as a live performer.
Her music is genre expansive; never shying away from mixing styles and letting her knack for melody take center stage. It ranges from layered and rich to stripped down and low fidelity. But most notable, her lyrics look straight into a psyche and emotional world full of doubt, pathetic desires, and weakness. She tackles the shameful, possibly ugly, intimate feelings that are often hidden away. But with moving vocals and masterful delivery, Brimheim imbues tender beauty into these dark corners of all of us.
Since releasing her EP, Myself Misspelled (2020) and debut album, can't hate myself into a different shape (2022), Brimheim has garnered praise from critics at home and abroad. She has won Four Faroese Music Awards, the Danish Carl Award as "Talent of the Year" in 2022, a nomination as "Hope of the Year" at the Danish Critics choice awards Steppeulven in 2021, Danish Radio "P3's inevitable" and much more. Her success in Denmark is spilling over with performances at By:Larm, The Great Escape, Eurosonic, Reeperbahn Festival, Iceland Airwaves and KEXP.
