Introducing "Bad Love", the new single from School of X

Apr 17, 2020
If you missed the recent announcement of School of X’s debut album Armlock, to be released on May 29, then here is some news that you can’t miss.

Today, the album’s second single “Bad Love” is being released.  Tune in here. We hope you’ll find some refuge from these trying times.

Fusing his reflective, sentimental side with his signature danceable, experimental pop, School of X leads us into what at first appears to be a sombre heart-felt ballad, but soon turns 180 degrees.

Recalling the pain of a love that is fading away, School of X’s Rasmus Littauer says of the song,

“It’s about feeling alone in a relationship, having lost faith or trust, about how much the relationship suddenly matters when it’s slipping through your fingers”

While last year’s School of X may have lingered on this pain, this year he is bringing a renewed sense of resolve and acceptance, which shines through in the song’s moonwalk-inducing chorus.

“But that’s how love is – it comes and goes and we all have to put up a constant fight to save it and bring it back” muses Littauer on “Bad Love”.

This ebb and flow between pain and acceptance -  sentimentality and head-banging - is an overarching theme on the upcoming debut album from School of X.

Nothing But Hope and Passion calls the song “a shimmering yet also quite sinister ballad that seeks its pleasure in the twilight” in their coverage of today’s release.

“It’s a sensual anti-love song but one that also roots for love on the other hand.”

It’s hard to believe that this will be School of X’s debut album, given his notoriety in the Danish scene and Littauer’s long-time collaboration with MØ. Armlock has been eagerly awaited, to say the least. And “Bad Love” and the album’s lead single “Collarbone” leave us counting the minutes until it reaches your ears.
