Molina celebrates personal freedom on her new single
We're phyched to bring you a new single from Molina. It's called "Mike" and you can either stream the music video below or find it on your favorite download or streaming service here.
When describing the lyrics and video, Molina says: “The lyrics define “Mike” as an underdog -- a person trapped in and weary of the neverending Treadmill of Life. To give the story another dimension I’ve created a video about a person liberating and standing up for himself. The opportunity to become the person you want to be is in my opinion the ultimate freedom. I hope that the tormented Mike and all the different emotions I associate with both song and video will make people relate personally with “Mike” and let them apply to it exactly the narrative that feels right for them”
Freedom as an urge is also expressed through the single’s artwork, where the 25-year-old musician and producer Molina explores the concept of Identity through a self portrait and thereby asks; “does Mike exist in us all?”
Musically “Mike” is an intuitive, whimsical production, where intricate, relentless beats meet melodic bass grooves, and where oriental vibes in synthesizer themes are contrasted by authentic strings and synthetic pads. Just for a moment, time stands still in the second chorus when Molina’s versatile voice stands alone, until suddenly it’s yet again accompanied by energetic orchestrations and a whirlpool of choir that weave their way around the captivating melody of the chorus.
