Blondage presents music video for “Dive”

"Dive" is the first single from Blondage’s upcoming self-titled EP, out on Sep 16, 2016 via yours truly. The song oscillates between a carefree feeling of happiness and an underlying rootlessness, while the crystal clear electronic pop production highlights the duo's impressive skills as songwriters and producers.

The video is a collaboration between Blondage and director duo Jonas Bang and multidisciplinary artist M.I.L.K., who in addition to directing is also known for his music under the same name. The aesthetic and technical choices of the directing duo and the strong track have resulted in a beautiful and energetic video.

"We deliberately chose to shoot much of the video in Wall Street. Partly because of the many lines in the structures of surrounding buildings and partly because we associate the massive steel and glass buildings with a particular form of vanity and selfishness. We were very careful that everything should have a clear sense of warmth and summer in contrast to the surroundings, and not least because there is so much sunlight in the song. The cold blue shades are enhanced so skin appears neutral, maybe even slightly cold, while everything still holds a very distinct warmth"

says Jonas Bang. The idea for the video came from Jonas and M.I.L.K. based on the lyrics and the mood of "Dive";

"For us the song sounded as an understated criticism of the way we have structured our society where everyone is always chasing someone or something and most still end up with nothing but a full stomach. Like an endless hunt on the savannah going on 24/7 in cities worldwide. We would really like to emphasize that theme in our locations so it was fantastic that we got the opportunity to shoot scenes in New York, as the city in all possible ways symbolizes the abundance and restlessness, that we feel in the song"

Says M.I.L.K., Esben adds:

“This is what life often amounts to. Chasing the next thing, whatever it may be. Forgetting why when you find it.”

The video alternates between Esben and Pernille of Blondage in the streets of New York and frames from the African savannah where the lion is chasing its prey. The two scenes merge and comment on each other. Pernille explains:

"We love how the city jungle connects with the open space of the savanna. The wild, flickering energy of the streets of China Town and Wall Street combined with the lion hunting the zebra somehow speak the same language”

The recording of the video was outright physically demanding:

”We had a crazy week shooting the video in New York, running around in the middle of streets and over bridges in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Esben was sprinting until he couldn't stand up anymore. I was shouting at him to go faster, faster, faster.” Pernille explains

The music video is part of a series of experiments from culture laboratory Prxjects that previously has worked with Kenton Slash Demon, Reptile Youth and Kwamie Live on both music videos, documentaries and audiovisual concerts. See more at http://prxjects.com

Blondage has a really exciting year ahead of them with lots of new music and shows in most of Europe
