‘Forgot Me on the Moon’ - School of X’s final offering before his debut album

Coming out on May 29 is the long-awaited debut album Armlock from School of X. Before this landmark moment, however, School of X is leaving us with one final offering, like an early Christmas present; only fueling our growing anticipation for the big day even more.

“Forgot Me on the Moon” was originally written years ago by School of X’s Rasmus Littauer. Back then it was a different song, and he was a different person. The original version of ‘Forgot Me on the Moon’ was written out of anger - anger at himself for failing to take initiative - for failing to move on from a fading love.

As seems to be the theme of Armlock’s lead singles, “Forgot Me on the Moon” shows us how School of X’s mindset has changed since his brooding 2019 EP Destiny. The song opens with the sound of a dark synth, briefly invoking a sombre guise. But the illusion of melancholy is soon shattered by the bright strum of Littauer’s 80’s pop-anthem-like acoustic guitar.

“I didn’t lose you baby. You forgot me on the moon... Nothing bores me more than you do” he sings with bright timbre and a pervading sense of rejoice; as if we are peering through a telescope at him dancing on the lunar surface, having been forgotten there. School of X seems to be showing us that Armlock will reveal a new side of himself - one that sees the positives in what he couldn’t before.

The music video for “Forgot Me on the Moon” was created by Rasmus Littauer himself, on his balcony during lockdown. His footage is mixed with stock footage from the early space expeditions, where the dynamics between earth and space symbolize the realisations Littauer expresses in the song.
