“There is always something bigger than you”
Rangleklods reveals the title track from his upcoming album released on February 9th 2024. In the wake of the album, Rangleklods will be touring Denmark and Europe.
Listen to "Breathe In, Breathe Out" here.
"Breathe In, Breathe Out" is the title track of Rangleklods' first album since 2015's Straitjacket. The track is melancholic, dreamy yet clubby, and encloses the lyrics that centers around the value of holding on and persevering through difficult times. Rangleklods' signature elements such as the rich crooning vocal, subtle and playful samples spicing up the insistent beat, a pulsating bass, and a wonderfully powerful lead synth in the outro, are the defining elements of the music.
"Since my last album, I've become a father and married my girlfriend of many years. Life has become centered in a way that brings me peace and has taught me to breathe deeper. There are good days and bad days in our home just like everyone else's. But I love knowing that there is always something bigger than yourself, and that meaning is always just beneath the surface of whatever problem you’re fixating on. Breathe in, then out. And find the joy in what's right in front of you".
Although Esben Nørskov Andersen aka Rangleklods has been a recording artist for 12 years, Breathe In, Breathe Out is only his third album. Esben is not only the artist Rangleklods, but also his own songwriter, producer, recording, mixing, and mastering engineer. When he’s in the studio, he's struck by equal parts immersion, playfulness, and perfectionism.
Surrendering completely to the creative process results in the deep attention to detail in the productions and songwriting that characterise Rangleklods. Perfectionism is both Esben's best friend and worst enemy. A Rangleklods track sounds exactly as intended — but it also makes creating songs longer and more labyrinthine, as every nook and cranny is explored to find the most interesting structure, sound, and narrative.
"I had a period between Straitjacket and the new record where I lost some of myself and let myself be controlled too much by external factors. It was a period where what was going to happen with a song was more important than my feelings about the song. And over time, that didn't work for me at all. I have to feel every moment on a record and mean every word I sing. And I have to get there with a smile on my face. That smile returned while I was writing the new album and it's still there."
