EXEC

EXEC

In early 2013 Troels Abrahamsen sat down in front of the piano to write for the first time in years. The singer and composer who is known as the lead singer of VETO had for many years written and produced his songs on the computer, but he realised a change in his songwriting method was needed.

"Since my childhood, the piano has had a central role in my life, so it was special to be back at the piano and to have direct contact with an instrument again. For me, it became an opportunity to create something new and start over again." Abrahamsen says of his return to the roots of his creativity.

EXEC’s music is, in contrast to Ambrahamsen’s output with VETO, purely analogue.. With a fine attention to detail for capturing the most evocative takes, EXEC resulted in a highly dynamic style. While the music is inspired by the harmonies and structures of the Nordic psalm tradition, it is a modern interpretation of this history, devoid of religious undertones.

The lyrics of EXEC are centered around existential themes of loneliness that have underscored Danish philosophy for nearly two centuries. Abrahamsen’s vocal work is phenomenally virtuous, extending his emotional carriage into new territory with great range in dynamics and timbre. Since EXEC’s debut album The Limber Real was conceived in 2014 and released in 2016 on Tambourhinoceros, we have been thrilled about EXEC’s musical journey and his courage to explore new realms of personal expression.
