New Palace Winter video for "New Ghost"
“My intentions with the video has been to try to capture the cinematic feeling that the music invites to. I tried to catch a sense of hidden memories and moments in your head that haunts you, yet comforts you. It's unsettling but you don’t want it to leave” - Director Cecilie McNair
Debut Denmark-based duo Palace Winter are riding a wave following the Nov 13-release of their debut EP ‘Medication’. The 5-track EP is a collection of raw, rousing indie tracks, which have earned the duo a huge deal of buzz ahead of the release of their debut LP, due next year via Tambourhinoceros.
Opener ‘Time Machine’, described by NME Magazine as a ‘a five-minute wonder’, is a barrage of rhythm highlighted by sumptuous melodies, drawing comparisons to War On Drugs and The Vaccines. ‘Time Machine’ is followed by the soothing 6-minute melancholia of ‘Woke In The Night, The Phone Was Ringing’ and the heavy-hitting single ‘Menton’.
‘Menton’ is a rousing indie epic that has been making waves. With fans from NME Radar to The Guardian to Noisey and a haul of blogs across the world, the track reached the No. 1 slot on Hype Machine in September, having spent two weeks in the Top 20.
Palace Winter’ has also been a radio mainstay with more than 770 plays since the 1st EP single dropped in June. Having been picked up by the KEXP, BBC 6 Music Introducing Mixtape, played on Tom Robinson’s show, it’s received backing from Lauren Laverne’s BBC 6 Music Recommends show, was selected Radio X’s Shock Of The New, and is a mainstay on Amazing Radio, P6 in Denmark, Detektor FM, Pinguin Radio, Campus Radio Jena and many others across Germany to mention only but a few.
The anthemic ‘New Ghost’ and ballad ‘Stockholm’ wrap up what is a very impressive debut.
