School of X teases new album with lead single Collarbone (feat. Lord Siva)

Today School of X drops the first single from his forthcoming debut album (out later in 2020). Entitled “Collarbone (feat. Lord Siva)” the single is accompanied by a string of shows in the UK, US, and DK.

Born into a music family, Rasmus Littauer aka School of X has always been playing and performing - and in the last decade as a respected figure on the Copenhagen underground scene – a role shared with Rasmus’ brothers Jakob (Yangze) and Simon Littauer who are also artists in their own right. Their parents are folk musicians and their father also builds guitars.

Alongside his work with School of X, Rasmus Littauer has toured the world these past 7 years as the musical director and drummer for MØ.

School of X is on a creative stream at the moment: In November 2019 the EP Destiny was released – a collection of very personal and intimate songs. Earlier this year artists like Trentemøller, Vera, Varnrable, and more reimagined the songs on Destiny by remixing and reworking the music of School of X on Interpretations of Destiny

Now School of X returns with the lead single “Collarbone (feat. Lord Siva)” from his debut LP. The music on the forthcoming record was written around the same time as Rasmus Littauer wrote the songs for Destiny. And in many ways, one can see the new album as the synthesis between the explosive indie pop from 2017’s EP Faded.Dream. and the intimacy of last years’ Destiny.

When I wrote the songs for Destiny I was also working on some more energetic and collaborative songs. “Collarbone” is a direct result of this approach; Lord Siva sings the bridge, Mauro Refusco (David Byrne) recorded the percussion and on the album some of my close collaborators like Yangze, Vera, Mads Koch and Spencer Zahn have contributed. I’m still the producer and main writer and “Collarbone” is a personal song for me that shows a new side of School of X, says Rasmus Littauer and continues to touch upon the lyrics of the new single: The many fragments in the lyrics evoke a wealth of images and emotions within me. It all revolves around the same theme; being wildly confused and wildly obsessed at once — a state that’s equally intoxicating and tough to exist in.

As a direct result of his touring life, the music of School of X has come to life all across the globe. This is also the case for “Collarbone (feat. Lord Siva)” which is mixed in New York by Chris Tabron (The Strokes, Kelela, Beyoncé).

The School of X moniker is inspired by Eksskole - a Copenhagen-based anti-establishment arts collective in Copenhagen in the 1960s.
